• You decide what rights you wish to retain, what formats to publish, and you have complete creative control over every aspect of your work.
• You receive a substantial discount on your ISBN; the price for a single ISBN is currently $125. We are able to offer you single ISBNs much more inexpensively, and each book may require five or more ISBNs (you need a different ISBN for each format).
• You avoid the stigma of self-publishing; each work that we accept goes through a rigorous submission process. You can be assured that your book will be in good company.
• We are able to do all the paperwork and deal with all the headaches, if you don’t want to.
• We don’t do expensive packages; all our services are a la carte. We have set fees for each service you wish to use, and you decide on the costs based on your budget. Most books can be published for under $100, depending on how many formats and services you require. You decide what services you want; we’ll advise you if your book requires more work to be published with us. The final decision about whether to use our services is completely up to you.
• We don’t do sales calls. Every minute you spend on the phone with someone trying to sell you an expensive publishing package is a minute you’re not writing. We respect your time and we will never contact you unless you have a product for sale with us. We will never sell, rent, or release your information.
• Unfortunately, these days, no publisher does real promotion except for major, well-established writers with a substantial following. We provide limited promotion and advise you on how to best market your book. Your book will be listed on and sold from our web site. We don’t require exclusivity; you can use whatever outlets you wish for your book sales.
• We collect and pay sales and use taxes where necessary, provide you with timely and complete accounting of your sales, send all appropriate forms to the IRS, and transfer money to you via PayPal quickly.
• We report your income correctly to the IRS, using your EIN (not your Social Security Number). If you are confused by applying for your EIN, we can help you with the process.
• We do collect a small percentage of royalties. After all, we have to keep the doors open. By all means, compare publishing companies and see what works for you.
