Why the a la carte menu?

We want to offer just the tasks you need completed. If you’re a whiz at formatting, or copyright registration, or you can edit your own work, great. You don’t need those services, and you certainly don’t need an expensive package.

Are you a vanity press?

No. Our founder publishes her own books here. She wants her books to be published by a company with a reputation for quality, so we carefully review each submission. If your submission does not meet our standards, you will be told 1) what to do so that your manuscript will meet our standards; or 2) of other presses that may be interested in your work.

What kinds of manuscripts do you accept?

  • Fiction: all genres but your submission must meet our standards for quality.
  • Graphic Novels if they meet our standards for quality.
  • Nonfiction is dependent on subject. In general, we do not accept manuscripts on health, and you must be expert in your field. If your field requires certifications, we want proof that you have those certifications.
  • We do not accept any manuscript that disparages or intimidates an individual or group.

Why are your prices so cheap (or your royalties so big)?

We want to support writers. Unless writers make decent salaries, we don’t have anything to read! We want you to be free to create more. We don’t cut deals, so you don’t need a literary agent. We don’t have a sales staff, so we don’t have their salaries to pay. We buy in bulk, and we are experienced, so we don’t have training costs and we can accomplish whatever tasks you need quickly. In addition, we do this so much that we have figured out ways to automate large parts of the process, requiring less human intervention (although a staff member still looks over every single task personally before completion).

Why is your editing price so high?

  1. Our editing goes far beyond proofreading (looking for spelling and grammar mistakes). We look at tone, continuity, fact-checking, and much more.
  2. Our editing service brings out the best in your writing (and you may need an extensive rewrite after we finish).
  3. Most importantly, we don’t outsource the work to someone on a work-for-hire site. Editing is done by our in-house staff or trusted contractors and is reviewed by our founder.
  4. You don’t have to wait months for the editing process. We know you want your book out as soon as possible, and editing takes priority.

Your editing price is per word. Is that per word you correct?

Our price is per word in your manuscript. After all, we have to read every word! It also avoids the confusion of the situation where we replace one word with more than one word, or replace multiple words with one word.

What do I do if you reject my manuscript?

It is likely that your manuscript will not be accepted on your first try. This doesn’t mean you should give up. Read your rejection letter carefully. It should contain one of the following reasons for rejection:

  • Your manuscript is not in a file format we can read.
  • Your manuscript has spelling, grammatical, continuity, style, or factual errors.
  • Your manuscript needs a major revision.
  • Your manuscript does not meet our quality guidelines.
  • Your manuscript does not meet our topic guidelines.

We can read most file formats, including MS Word, Open Office, .rtf, .pdf, etc.

What kind of 3-D printing files do you accept?

Any file you own the legal rights for, that meets our quality and topic guidelines. Before submitting your files, contact us.

What kind of musical scores do you accept?

Any score that you own the legal rights for which meets our quality and topic guidelines. In general, we do not accept popular music (that includes any of the three- and four-chord variety), loops, and similar compositions. In particular, we are looking for complex original compositions, new piano reductions of concerti and opera, arrangements, transcriptions, orchestrations, new instrumental methods, instrumental technical exercises, and similar works.
